Owner: Guidetti, Darryl B. Year: 1986 Model: GT Comments: The car is
a 1986 GT. It came with every option available except for leather,
automatic, and a/c. The car came original with T-tops, five speed, 3.08
gears, 140mph speedometer, fifteen inch "ten hole" wheels, and the fairly
unique dark graphite paint. As of now it has only thirty-four thousand miles
on the car. The interior remains mostly stock with the exception of a sony
stereo system, autometer boost gauge, pro 5.0 shifter, "thru the floor"
subframe connectors, an eightpoint rollcage, and window tint. Externally it
remains mostly original as well with the exception of enki sixteen inch
basket weave wheels with falken tires, a mach1 ram air hood to clear the
supercharger, gts head light and taillight covers and 2.5 inch exhaust.
Driveline mods are fairly extensive. The engine from the pan up consists of
a canton oil setup, dart 8.2 (302) block, lunati crank, lunati rods, and
lunati pistons, with a total displacement of just over 347 cubic inches and
a compression of appx. 8.5:1. lifting is all provided by comp cams with an
xe282 blower cam, lifter, roller rockers, pushrods, and valve springs.
Aspiration is provided by a modified Saleen manifolds, and unported
Edelbrock Victor JR heads with a seventy-five millimeter throttle body and
seventy-six millimeter mass air meter from C&L. Ignition is provided by
Accel distributor, Denso Irridium plugs, MSD coil and ignition module. Fuel
is provided by Vortech with rails, braided hoses, dual fuel pumps (255 and
350lph), and 60lb/hr injectors. Suspension and other driveline consists of a
world class transmission, centerforce clutch, steel driveshaft, 3.08:1
rearend w/ 31 splines and a Detroit locker. Front brakes a drilled and
slotted Brembos with drums in back. Suspension is all KYB and is moderately
tuned for street, strip, roadcourse and the highway. Forced induction is
provided by Vortech's T-trim spinning 16psi of boost pressure. Currently it
is non-intercooled but when i get home from deployment hopefully i will find
enough time to install the spearco intercooler that i've had since
christmas.

Lee Iacocca wanted the switch-over to the Mustang II to occur in 1968, but Ford's President Bunkie Knudsen preferred the larger Mustangs. When Bunkie Knudsen left in `69, Lee Iacocca got to work on the Mustang II.
